Ella's 4 month shots

Today, Ella had to go to the doctor for her 4 month shots. Poor thing was already sick. She caught Lia's cough and cold, and Dr. Worrall found an ear infection too! But since she didn't have a fever, they went ahead and gave her the shots anyway. She was such a trooper! She cried hard when they stuck her, but recovered very quickly with some help from big sister. Lia was so sweet to Ella. She was talking to her, holding her hand, and playing with a toy to make her laugh. My heart swells with pride as I watch my two sweet angels together : ) I am one lucky Mama!!

Well, despite lots of hand washing, it appears that Lia has caught the nasty bug that's going around (I bet it was from Bouncin' Bears!) She started coughing yesterday and by last night she was really complaining that she didn't feel good. She woke up coughing in the middle of the night. After a dose of cough medicine, I had to "snuggle" with her (yes the two of us squeezed into her tiny toddler bed) to get her back to sleep. By this morning, she had a fever and had thrown up all over both of us and my bed within 30 minutes of waking up : ( So, Daddy came home early from work and took her to the doctor. It turns out that she has a sinus infection and an ear infection on top of the cough. Poor sweet baby!! So Daddy went to CVS and got her ammoxicillin and ice cream, and we are taking it easy this evening (and praying that Ella doesn't catch it!)

More Spring Break fun...

Here are some photos from the past week. It's spring break here, so no school this week. We have been finding lots of fun ways to stay entertained : )

Ladybugs! Mrs. Kim got 300 ladybugs and brought them over to Sage's house to release them yesterday. The kids each had a magnifying glass to watch them as they made their way to the great outdoors. It was really neat!

I decided to do some redecorating, so Lia and I got out a bunch of paint samples on Wednesay and she helped me paint the walls in the living room. She's such a great helper and a wonderful artist too!


On Tuesday, we made this awesome tray. We got a plain white tray from Target and Lia spent awhile decorating the whole thing with foam stickers while we watched her new favorite movie "Dolphin Tale." We are going to pour liquid plastic resin over the stickers to seal it all up so Lia can use her new tray to carry her food or to color or to play anything she wants...

Bouncin' Bears

It's Spring Break, which means us moms are trying to find fun things to do with the kids while school is out. On Monday, we all met at Bouncin' Bears and let the kids go wild. Lia had a blast!! What a great deal - for only $5 the kids can go as long as they want! Since we got there early, we had about 30 minutes with the place to ourselves for the most part. After that, it was total mayhem! I think all of Houston was there by 10:00 am! But we had a great time playing and even got to go to Chik-fil-A for lunch afterwards. Sorry no photos of Ella, but she slept the whole time we were there : )

Happy 30th birthday Philip!!!

On Saturday, Philip turned 30! He was very surprised when he walked into Lupe's to meet me and the girls for dinner on Friday evening and found his parents sitting there : ) They flew in to celebrate the weekend with us and were kind enough to babysit on Saturday night too.

On Saturday morning, we went out to breakfast at The Egg & I. The food was great! We came home afterwards and Philip opened his gifts with a little help from Lia : ) That night, Philip thought I made dinner reservation for the two of us, but I had another surprise up my sleeve.

At 6:45 a group of friends arrived a our house along with a limo bus that I rented for the night. We had huge mason jars filled with Lynchburg lemonade and little bags of M&M's that I got personalized with Philip's photo as party favors. We loaded up the bus and headed out to dinner at Collina's, a pizza place that we love! After delicious pizza, we brought out the red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese icing and sang Happy Birthday! Next, we went to the Improv to see a Paul Mooney comedy show.

We had a wonderful night celebrating with great friends!! Philip was so surprised by the whole weekend. I'm so glad I pulled it off (there were a few times that I thought he was onto me, but somehow I managed to keep it all a secret.) Thanks to everyone who helped make his 30th birthday so special, especially to Nana and Papa for flying to Houston for us!!
