July 15th - The BIG day!

At our 37 week (and one day) appointment last Thursday, we had an ultrasound that revealed that Lia has managed to flip herself back into breech position. She weighs 6 lbs 12 oz according to the ultrasound. Dr Castillo said that we have two options now that she is breech; we can try a procedure where they give me an epidural and she and another doctor try to flip Lia around or we can just schedule the c-section. There are risks involved with the procedure, so we are thinking that we should just go straight for the c-section. After thinking things over Thursday night and talking with the doctor again Friday morning, we have scheduled the c-section for Wednesday the 15^th at 8:30 am. We will go Tuesday at 1:00 for another ultrasound to double check Lia’s position, and as long as she is still breech, we’ll go forward with the c-section Wed morning. I am glad that we have a plan now! We don’t want to risk waiting too long for Lia to flip (which isn’t really that likely) or having me go into labor with her still breech and possibly having someone other than my doctor perform the surgery, so I feel much better (you all know I am a planner if there ever was one!) knowing what’s in store. So, now I just have to keep my feet up and not do anything that might trigger labor before Wednesday! Here are a couple of pics from the ultrasound. They are not very good ones, sorry, but the ultrasound tech went on and on about all her hair and said she had never been able to see eyelashes before so Lia must really have some great ones! The white “fuzz” in the first pic is her hair. The second pic shows her eyes and you can barely see little white lines that are eyelashes. The third pic is just the bottom half of her face, nose and mouth. I guess if all goes according to plan, I will be posting real photos of an actual baby girl on Wednesday!!
