Update after doctor

We went to the gastro specialist this morning, and I feel so much better after talking to him. He confirmed that Lia does have a milk protein allergy. He said about 5% of babies have it and most grow out of it in 6 or 7 months. In the mean time, in order to keep breastfeeding I will have to keep dairy, soy, eggs and nuts out of my diet. We will also continue using the Alimentum formula for those times when Daddy gives Lia a bottle. We will continue to monitor her poopy diapers for blood (yesterday and today have been clear.) If it comes back and doesn't go away or if she has any other symptoms that concern us, we'll take her back in. I am glad he told me I could be a little less strict with my diet, I am gonna have a hamburger tomorrow while we watch football (with no cheese or mayo of course!!) So, we are breathing a sigh of relief that we got good news today and that we aren't dealing with anything more serious. Now, all we have to do is get Miller healed and we can all move forward. We have to give him his first injections tonight, I am dreading it, wish us luck!!

  1. Good that its only the protein allergy. Bad that you have to stay off dairy!!! Its not forever though, you are doing whats best for Lia. Thats why you are a great Mother!
