Gus..
...had to go to the vet this morning for the first time in about 4 years! Ever since a rather traumatic procedure, which I won't go into detail about, a few years ago, Gus has been absolutely terrified of going to the vet or of even leaving the house at all actually. Thank goodness I was able to find a mobile vet who comes out once a year to give Gus his vaccinations here at the house! Well, last time the vet was here he said that Gus' teeth really needed to be cleaned and possibly some removed because his gums were swollen and sore. Of course, I didn't think much of it knowing that Philip would be none too happy to pay for Gus to "go to the dentist." Well, over the last 6 months or so, Gus has been having more and more accidents around the house. Lately things have gotten so bad that we are having to replace the flooring in the study and dining room. Our whole house smells and we are at the end of our rope! I got to thinking that maybe his mouth was bothering him so bad that he was acting out, thus we made the trip to the vet this morning to have things checked out. As it turns out, she doesn't think his mouth (which she did agree is in bad shape) is causing the accidents, but did recommend getting the cleaning before it gets any worse. She prescribed anxiety medicine for the bathroom problem and I'm praying that they fix this issue! I know it sounds crazy to put your cat on anxiety meds, but judge me all you want, I don't care! I am willing to try anything to end the bad behavior! Here is a pic of the little guy in his carrier. He was freaking out from the minute we left the house to the minute we got home...
